UPDATE 13
Jack is still working hard to get out of the ICU and made good progress the last few days. They weren’t able to fully wean drain last week, so on Monday he had a shunt put in. The procedure went well and he’s healing from that now! He also had an MRI that showed the tumors haven’t grown in the past couple weeks - good news! The hope and plan is for him to get out of the ICU and begin chemo in the next week or two.
The pathology report came back and, while they’re confirming with a second opinion because it’s so rare, it’s likely a teratoma tumor that transformed into a malignant adenocarcinoma. The team is at the ready to attack it with chemo, so hopefully hopefully hopefully it is responsive to the treatment!
Everyone here with Jack has been giving and receiving lots of hand squeezes - send me a note if you want me to deliver one to him from you!
Thanks for sending all the love, keep it coming.
