UPDATE 04

Jack and Dr Kouloumberis hit it off this morning with Star Trek jokes that I think she found genuinely funny and I did not at all understand. She brought us a sense of ease and we started to formulate a plan.

First we’re going after the pineal gland tumor. Step one is for Jack to get labs done with a neuro oncologist in an attempt to determine what exactly the pineal gland tumor is and whether it’s cancerous or not (jury’s still out). If those tests are inconclusive, we’ll have to go in for a biopsy.

The multidisciplinary neuro team is meeting tomorrow (and every Friday) to discuss, and we’re mostly feeling relief that we’ve got a team of doctors and the makings of a treatment plan. In Jacks words, “there are lots of brains of people who work on brains for a living looking at my brain” (meta).

We’re thinking/hoping that Jack’s appointment with the neuro onc will be next week so we’ll keep you posted!
